An Observation

Boys - I don't care who you are, how hot you look in clothes or how hot you think you look without clothes - a Speedo is a bad idea.

New Years Resolutions

Generally, as I said last year at this time, I don’t care too much about New Years Eve. It is sort of a lame holiday as far as I am concerned. Over the last two years it has had a more entertaining twist because Katie throws a GREAT New Years Party. This year was no exception. I had a blast. Actually, it was even more fun this year than last year. Last year I was torn because Ella had just come home from the vet and was starting her downward slide to May when she had to be put to sleep. I felt incredibly guilty leaving her alone. Those feelings came back this year but it was with relief that I realized this year I have a healthy cat at home and Ella is no longer suffering. I miss her still, she was a great companion (and those of you who aren’t animal people are rolling your eyes at this part of my entry) but I know she is better off.

The evening started off with an amazing dinner at Pasta Fresca on Lake Union. If you have never been there you need to go. There is no menu. You sit down and the owner Mike gives you a bottle of wine, asks what you don’t like or are allergic to and then the meal starts to come. Everything they brought was amazing. It was a perfect New Years Eve dinner out. Then we went to Katie’s party with the perfect view of the Space Needle fireworks. Although they were flubbed this year I still thought they were great and I enjoyed that part of the evening although the rest of the party really was just as much fun. Thanks Katie for giving an opportunity for such a fun evening.

Last year I came into the New Year exhausted. I was so tired I didn’t even really have the strength to make any resolutions which is unheard of for me. So I did the only thing I could do and resolved to not be as tired this year. Well, I was successful which is a relief. This year I have more than enough energy to make some resolutions. 2007 wasn’t a particularly good year for me. I’m actually very glad to see it go and I am heading into 2008 with some excitement. Things at work have already improved with a new office, new financial appreciation from my bosses and a new associate (making me SENIOR associate) that I went to college with and look forward to working with. My best friend Erin is engaged and I am looking forward to her wedding (and bachelorette party) sometime this year. I have a few fun trips in the works (started planning a crazy weekend in Mexico with Sarah yesterday and I am trying to talk Pete into a weekend in Arizona living and breathing baseball – and the pool of course, a free trip to Sea Island and a week in MN including Jeff and Julie’s wedding in WI. I received an additional week of vacation this year. Can you tell?) and the spring and summer to take trips on “my” Harley. I’m pretty pumped.

Along with that excitement comes the ability to make some resolutions. So without further fanfare here they are:

1) Get motorcycle endorsement
2) Increase revenue at work by a minimum of $20,000 but shooting for an increase of 50% of last year’s revenue
3) Drink more water (and maybe less Vodka)
4) Go to a foreign country
5) Take part in two out of county bike rides (competitive or not)
6) Go on a backpacking trip

That’s a lot actually so I think I had better reign myself in. I must have had too much coffee this morning because I am feeling too energetic. I hope everyone has had a wonderful New Year and I look forward to sharing 2008 with all of you!
